On the last Sunday in January, the legendary Marcialonga di Fassa e Fiemme is held, the cross-country skiing event that is now a well-established event for the two Trentino valleys. The route is 70 km, to be covered exclusively in classic technique!
The majority of competitors (7,500 athletes registered) come from Scandinavian countries, especially Norway, for a weekend of true Nordic skiing celebration. Route: the historical Marcialonga route includes the mass start in the Moena plain. From there, it goes up the entire Val di Fassa, following the Avisio river backwards, until Canazei where it reverses direction, returning to the other side of the river.
The descent to Cavalese is very gentle: first you pass Campitello, then Pera and Pozza di Fassa, Moena, Predazzo and cross the entire Val di Fiemme until the decisive climb near Cavalese, where the finish line is located. On a course of 45 km (from Moena to Predazzo, passing through Canazei) the ‘Marcialonga Light‘ takes place, again in classic technique.
